The Torah is: our foundation; teacher; what makes us a congregation; what makes us Jewish
According to tradition, each of us has an obligation to preserve our sacred heritage by writing a Torah scroll in our lifetime. In Deuteronomy 31:19, it says, “Write for yourselves this song, and teach it to all the Children of Israel.” This is considered to be the 613th, and final, commandment. We are taught that if we participate in the repair of even a single letter, we have fulfilled our obligation and achieved a potentially once-in-a-lifetime Mitzvah. This is as much a work of the heart and the soul, as it is of the mind. Past generations ensured this legacy of the Torahs for us. It is now up to us to do the same for the generations to come.
Be a sponsor at a level comfortable Each sponsorship includes the mitzvah of writing a letter in a restored Torah from a quill which you hold.
Your connection to the Torah is unique and special. A Tree of Life Journal is being compiled to capture these connections. Please complete and email the Make Your Mark brochure form to add your story or message to this memorable journal.
