I am looking for volunteers in early June to help me with the ritual books at Bnai Shalom.
There are boxes of siddurs that need to be inventoried and unpacked, other sets of books that need to be inventoried and boxed, and other books that are already in the sanctuary but need to be counted.
If you are interested or have questions, please contact me. No prior experience necessary.
Thanks, Howard Nathanson Chair – Bnai Shalom Ritual Committee
Someone to collate all information to be retained in our files such as, Bar/Bat Mitzvah’s, Weddings, Honors, Funerals, Memorabilia, etc. pertaining to our congregation. Please contact Gwen Jacobs at 908-859-6509.
Our library committee was working on updating the library catalogue listings for online publication. Bnai Shalom needs a Library Committee chairperson to take over this project and volunteers.
Bnai Shalom wishes to thank all who have volunteered to transport those in need of a ride to services and events. However, please note that for insurance purposes, Bnai Shalom does not authorize anyone to transport individuals on its behalf. Any rides are between the person requesting the ride and the individual who is providing the ride.
The pandemic not withstanding, our congregants joined Rabbi Melody and her family to cook Passover meals for members of our community. After consulting with Dr. Stan Walker of our Covid Preparedness Committee, a safe, controlled environment was created including masks, gloves, social distance, etc.
Many thanks to those who came in to cook - Nancy Ebert, Lauren Glick, Sheldon Himber, Jim Mueth, Andy Novick, Patti Price, Vickie Semmel, Anita Solow and those who delivered the meals - Lothar Gumberich, Sheldon Himber, Vickie Semmel and Ellis Weitzman and to those generous folks who graciously provided the wherewithal to cover the cost of the food.
Donna Stametz – our in house caterer was invaluable in koshering the kitchen and finding our pesachtic implements. Naturally, she joined in the fun.
Kudos to Rabbi’s family who schlepped around New Jersey for an entire day to shop for the endeavor!
Left: Some of our goodies: Cranberry relish, Ashkenaz and Sephardic charoset, beet salad, gefilte fish, carrot salad and pistachio-almond cookies. Brisket, mashed potatoes and chicken soup were on the menu – of course!
